Why you're getting this

Verticalmove opened one public LinkedIn job posting.

Verticalmove
One open req, read off your own posting

The market that applied is not the market you need.

Everything below is read off your own posting.

Applying is free. Filtering is not.

Why this role is still open

300 applicants does not mean 300 qualified candidates.

The posting generated plenty of interest. The problem is how quickly that pool shrinks once you apply the actual requirements of the job. Reposting refreshes the queue. It does not change who is in it.

And that is not a guarantee you fill the role.

What the drop-off is made of, and how to change it
AI-submittedAgents fire résumés at hundreds of postings. None of them read the description.
Wrong stack or levelAdjacent keywords, different systems, different scale.
LocationAn on-site requirement removes everyone outside a commute, no matter how well they match.
EligibilityNot authorized to work without sponsorship.
HedgingQualified, but waiting on a household name or a public-company package.
Visa transferAn H-1B that has to move to you: roughly $10,500 to $13,000 in fees. If the green card has not cleared I-140, PERM restarts under your name and costs more.
Already goneApplied weeks ago, in a process elsewhere by the time you call.
Step rates are assumptions. The applicant count and the seniority mix are from the posting. Immigration fees as of August 2026.
Each rate applies to the step above it. Change one and the collapse recalculates.
Cost one · The clock

What the seat was opened to protect, and isn't.

While the req is open the work redistributes to whoever is already carrying it. Those people are also the ones most able to leave. One vacancy can create the next.

Same seat, same quarter. One of these two paths ends with someone starting.

      Cost two · The bar

The expensive outcome isn't an empty seat. It's a full seat with the wrong person in it.

Month two of a live req is when a tired panel hires “good enough” from the remainder. The salary looks the same.

      A

      Raises the next four.

Ships the work, sets the interview bar, and refers people you would have paid a fee to find.

      B

      Keeps the seat warm.

Writes the next job description like themselves, then runs the next panel. The bar drops without a meeting.

      C

      Costs you the search twice.

A second loop, plus three to six months of a weak owner on the thing this seat protects. The original vacancy was the cheap part.

The arithmetic — estimates from your posted band

Estimates derived from the salary range on your posting, not an invoice. The invoice is visible. A quarter with the seat empty, or a year of a B-player writing the next job description, is not.

Cost three · The market you didn't see

The posting already proved inbound is exhausted.

The people who could do this job were never going to tap Easy Apply on a public req with a queue on it.

      Where these numbers came from

You may not be able to see this yourself. Applicant Insights is a LinkedIn Premium feature shown to members viewing your posting, not part of the employer-side dashboard. Anyone with a Premium account who opens your req sees the same breakdown we did.

Two caveats. LinkedIn infers applicant seniority from applicants' own profiles, so treat the mix as directional rather than audited. And these are a snapshot from the date above, not a live feed.
